What is Simca?
A point of sale and business manager designed to work offline and centre cash, with no cloud required and no telemetry. It is in the design stage.
Is there an app I can download?
No. There is no released app, installer or download. Use Request access to be told when that changes.
What exists today?
A planning catalog of 3,181 items, design documents, draft schemas and a draft database migration. See the status page.
Who is it for?
Small businesses in South America and other underserved markets first. The industry study also looks at larger sectors and says where a point of sale does not fit.
Does it work without internet?
That is the design goal. Selling, printing, closing a shift and waybills must never need a sign-in or a connection.
What needs the internet?
Only online-network features: Tap to Pay, the co-op price counter, referral validation and the Logistics board relay. Updates are user-initiated.
Does it collect data about me?
The stated principle is no telemetry and no data collection. This website uses no cookies, trackers or external resources.
How do I pay for cards?
Cards are accepted only through the phone's Tap to Pay via a provider. Simca does not scan or store card numbers.
Are Yape and Plin supported?
They are recorded manually by the cashier. There is no integration.
How much does it cost?
No prices are published; none exist in the repository. The README describes buy-once or an optional yearly fee, with no percentage of revenue.
Is it certified or compliant?
No certification or compliance of any kind is claimed: not PCI, SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR or EMV.
Which countries does it support?
Peru is the detailed fiscal pack. Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico are light sets. Others are gaps.
Which platforms?
In order: Windows, Android and iOS phones, tablets, Linux. Support for Windows 7 and 8.1 is not decided.
What is the tech stack?
A recommendation of a Rust core, Flutter interface and SQLite. No spike has been done.
Can I choose only the parts I need?
Yes, by design: everything is an element chosen in the launcher; unselected elements are not compiled in.
Is there a free version?
The catalog has a free pricing class. Where its boundary lies is not decided.
Does it do payroll?
The catalog lists payroll-adjacent items such as exports for an accountant. A payroll engine is not claimed.
Can it replace my accountant?
No. It plans bookkeeping and exports; tax advice stays with professionals.
Can big companies use it?
Large enterprises mostly run on systems beyond a point of sale. The industry pages say which parts could fit.
Where is the data stored?
On the business's own devices by design.
Can I leave later?
Open export is a design principle and catalogued.
How are updates delivered?
Signed packages, only when the user asks, from a server manifest or a file.
Is the Spanish translation final?
No. Spanish pages need review by a native speaker.
Who runs this website?
The Simca project. The contact address is a placeholder until a domain is decided.
Can I see the full catalog?
Yes, every module, section and item is on this site.
