Glossary

Short definitions. Tax and regulation terms are explained for orientation only; verify locally.

Fiado
Selling on credit to a known customer, tracked in a notebook or, in Simca’s plan, in a ledger. A common small-shop practice in Peru and elsewhere.
GRE (Guía de Remisión Electrónica)
Peru’s electronic waybill for transporting goods. Simca’s catalog plans it as updatable rules data. Always verify against the tax authority.
SUNAT
Peru’s national tax authority. The first fiscal pack targets its electronic documents (planned, not built).
CONN
The catalog module code for Interchange: digital waybilling and the supply network. The product name is not decided.
KDS (kitchen display system)
A screen that replaces or supplements kitchen printers.
ESC/POS
A common command language for receipt printers. The catalog plans to generate its bytes in the core.
Tap to Pay
Card acceptance on a phone via NFC, through a certified payment-provider SDK. Planned as an adapter; Simca does not read or store card numbers. Needs the online sign-in per ADR-0001.
WAL (write-ahead logging)
A SQLite journaling mode that the stack recommendation uses for durability.
FEFO
First-expired, first-out: pick the stock that expires soonest.
Z report
An end-of-shift or end-of-day closing report. An X report is the same view taken mid-shift without closing.
X report
A mid-shift snapshot of sales and cash that does not close the period.
Boleta
In Peru, a simplified sales receipt, usually for consumers. Rules change; verify locally.
Factura
An invoice, in Peru used mainly between businesses. Verify locally.
CPE
Comprobante de pago electrónico: the family of Peruvian electronic payment documents. The catalog’s PE module lists 66 items under this heading.
IGV
Peru’s general sales tax, similar to a value-added tax. The site states no rates.
UIT
Unidad Impositiva Tributaria: a Peruvian reference unit used to set tax thresholds. The catalog treats its value as an editable yearly parameter; the site states none.
NRUS
Nuevo Régimen Único Simplificado: a simplified Peruvian regime for very small businesses. Verify current rules.
DNI
Peru’s national identity number, sometimes required on receipts above a threshold.
Yape
A Peruvian mobile wallet. Recorded manually in Simca’s plan.
Plin
A Peruvian wallet network. Recorded manually in Simca’s plan.
Bodega
A small neighbourhood grocery shop.
Cevichería
A restaurant specialising in ceviche; the catalog has a preset for it.
Mayorista
A wholesaler.
Pandero or junta
A rotating savings group where members contribute regularly and take turns receiving the pot.
SKU
Stock-keeping unit: one sellable variant of a product.
PLU
Price look-up code for items without a barcode, such as produce.
BOM (bill of materials)
The list of components consumed to make or sell something.
FIFO
First in, first out: use the oldest stock first.
Lot or batch
A group of units made or received together, tracked for expiry and recalls.
Tender
The way a sale is paid, such as cash, wallet or card.
Float
The starting cash in a drawer.
Till
The cash drawer and its register session.
Safe drop
Moving excess cash from the drawer to a safe during the day.
Over and short
The difference between counted and expected cash.
Void
Cancelling a sale line or a whole sale before it is finalised.
Comp
A free item given away, recorded with a reason.
RMA
Return merchandise authorisation: the process for returning faulty goods.
Proof of delivery
Evidence that goods arrived, such as a signature or photo.
Waybill (guía)
A document that accompanies goods in transport.
Manifest
A list of parcels or stops on a delivery route.
Backhaul
A return trip carrying a second load instead of travelling empty.
Geofence
A virtual boundary around a place that can trigger an event when crossed. In Simca’s plan location is opt-in and local.
Hybrid logical clock
A timestamp scheme that orders events across devices without perfect clocks.
SQLite
A small embedded database stored in a single file.
Rust
A systems programming language; the repo recommends it for the core.
Flutter
A cross-platform UI toolkit; the repo recommends it for the interface.
Launcher
The one download that installs, starts and updates Simca and lets the user choose elements. Designed in ADR-0001.
Element
A catalog item or module that can be included in a package.
Package spec
A small JSON file listing chosen elements, written by the launcher.
Pricing class
A catalog field: standard licensing or free package.
Network access
A catalog field: offline, optional online action, or online sign-in required.
ADR
Architecture decision record: a short document recording a decision. ADR-0001 covers the launcher.
Co-op
The README’s idea that price falls for everyone as the network grows.
Lite and Pro
Catalog tiers: Lite is simpler and single-device; Pro is full.
Preset
A pre-ticked selection of elements for a business type.
Data mule
A person who carries signed data between devices that are not connected, for example a driver.
Gossip
Peer-to-peer spreading of data when devices meet.
Ed25519
A modern digital-signature scheme; proposed, not decided.
Idempotent import
Importing the same file twice has the same result as once.
Attestation
A signed statement, such as a positive rating, held by the rated party.
Offline-first
Design in which the device works fully without internet and syncs when it can.
Local-first
The data lives on the user’s devices rather than a vendor’s server.
Telemetry
Automatic collection of usage data by software. Simca’s stated principle is to have none.
Detracción (SPOT)
A Peruvian mechanism where part of certain payments is deposited in a dedicated account. Verify locally.
